Okay, I have no idea why these are posting here…. *sigh* Damn technology.
I’ve not read the article (that has mysteriously appeared) but my translation of ‘…husbands love healthy wives’ translates as ‘if my wife is ill, she won’t be able to cook my dinner/get my clothes ready for work/keep the house clean and tidy/buy my mothers’ birthday card/look after the children/will moan when I leave to play golf etc etc.
Pretty much….. it’s from a book of life advice from 1887.
Things have progressed since then, but not enough!
It’s kind of amazing how much of that book is still completely relevant. I’d have expected it to be more outdated than it is.
I’ve just read ‘Wifework’ by Susan Maushart which provides research to back up what every woman knows and most men won’t admit to. This sums up why married men and single women live the longest.
