in the world, you are no better than the humblest citizen; in fact, remember that humility is one of the best evidences of greatness.

and that the man or woman who has to earn his or her living by the sweat of his or her brow is unfit to associate with you; because any thing with such a belief is uncivilized.

–that you are better than the son or daughter of labor; because, if you do, you are a drivelling idiot.

who slights his fellows and boasts of high birth, noble ancestors, etc., is a pitiable fool.

every person who endeavors to make a display of himself, who endeavors to impress upon the minds of other persons the fact that he is a little smarter, a little above them, universally is looked upon by them as a fool.

–because none but fools are so conceited.  Smart persons know how prone the mind is to err.
