You may not expect her to do the cooking, but unless she knows how, you will not be happy.  Eating is one of the indispensables of life, and is the source of much happiness or misery.

–boarding is not living.

–she may be mistaken for a woman of loose virtue.

–a small waist is an infallible sign of a feeble constitution, and is almost synonymous with “doctor bills.”

–she is not well-balanced, and is not fit to be the mother of your children.

–you always will be reminded of the fact that you have “paid too much for the whistle.”

–very few of them make good, gentle, affectionate, loving wives.  Loving-kindness is born of tribulation.

and is not willing to work–a girl who does not work and make herself useful, never is very loving, kind, and affectionate.

–she will prove to be a spendthrift, besides being devoid of many of the choicest womanly virtues.

–she is not worth marrying, and is too common for a wife.  Wives should be above suspicion.
